Rob 12th June 2016

Well Pete, football has got a lot to answer for, most of the people I know come from football. It has been playing with or against them, or from our children playing football. You obviously come into the last category with Andrew playing in the same team as Lee.That team was well followed on match days and of course the trips away. You helped Tony and me put up the goals on a Sunday morning at the park and we used to say that they were the best, neatly tied and pegs spaced evenly apart. When I was the treasurer of the Juniors you helped me out with the books and did the audit for us as well. We had a good time with the lads, and you would be good for a laugh or two. A funny thing happened to me approx 18 months ago around Christmas time. I was in the Haymarket going down the escalator when a guy from the top shouted to me "Hey is that Rob, I waved to him and he was gone". A week later I bumped into him in a shop and I still didn't recognise him, perhaps it was the beard and beany hat that fooled me .It was Graham from my school days , I had not seen him since then. Well low and and behold at the funeral Graham was there talking to someone about local football. I asked him how he knew Pete and he said he sat in the same row with the boys down the City. Small world hey. Football again I never got to see Pete in the latter stages, when I was going to see him he took ill again. In one way I was sorry not to see him but in another way I was glad. People don't generally like you to see them when they are poorly. So I will remember Pete when I last saw him walking down Sibson road with a smile on his face. We will all remember you as a genuinely nice guy Rob and Linda
